You are about to join the web's greatest hosting site. I don't ask for much! I don't sell emails - there isn't even a system in place to easily access the email addresses for users (even for me, beside phpMyAdmin!), so don't worry, your information is safe. As for passwords, they are stored as MD5 hashes - not reversable into the original passwords. Once you write it here, it is GONE. It can only check to see if what you enter for a login "looks" the same as what you entered here. Hope you enjoy the site. It's gone through a lot of changes and I swear one of these days I'll give this registration form a much needed overhaul. In the meantime though, there are still some idiots that think this site can be abused, so I have to lay down some ground rules in a moment...

By submitting this form, you agree to the following pretty reasonable terms: You will not use this site to host pr0n. - This is for two reasons - one, it's a bandwidth eater. Two, file listings are open to everyone, and I'm not about to request that everyone using this site be 18 or older. You want a place to upload your porn that doesn't care? Try Imageshack. Oh, but Pr0n in the internet sense is perfectly cool. You know. Stuff that kids wouldn't understand, nor be permanently "scarred" either. Like this! Upload it all! If you are caught uploading pornographic material and it is not "hidden" (to, at least, keep the site Rated PG), YOU WILL BE WARNED OR BANNED. This is not Rapidshare. - This site is hosted by another company that has its own policies regarding piracy and copyright infringement. Cracks, downloads, etc., will be deleted and you will be warned, then BANNED if it continues. If I receive a notice for what you uploaded, I have your IP address and will gladly point fingers. All websites have your IP though. That isn't anything special or weird. You have to send your IP to get anything back, like caller ID. Chill. That means no torrent files. That means no pages of links to RapidSuck. That means nothing of a "contributory infringement" nature. If it's illegal for you to host, it's illegal for Hostfile to host. RULES REGARDING MP3 FILES: MP3 files are one of two extensions (EXEs are the other restricted type as they are used mainly as email viruses/worms) that have to be approved, otherwise they will be deleted after they are downloaded 5 times. By submitting a file for approval, you agree to the following terms: Only share NON-COPYRIGHTED MP3s - If you submit an MP3 to be approved for free use, it MUST be NON-COPYRIGHTED, OR you must be the copyright holder YOURSELF. NO EXCEPTIONS. Do not flood the site with hits - If your MP3 is approved, try not to post it somewhere where it will swallow up the whole site. Very hard to do, but it may happen. MP3 files are typically large. DO NOT SHARE COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL - If you upload an MP3, knowing it's copyrighted (that is, by a popular band/artist that anyone with a brain cell knows is copyrighted), and submit it for approval, I WILL WARN OR BAN YOU FOR NOT READING THESE RULES. Approval means that you believe it isn't copyrighted and want an exception to be made. You WILL be banned after the second warning, unless you make efforts to at least TRY to reply to my first warning. You will check your alerts - Alerts are the only way I have to communicate with users of the site. I do not email people (I don't trust you even used a real email address anyway), so when you see "1 new user comment(s)" in your status bar, CLICK IT AND READ IT. Click my (or the person's name) and comment back to reply. It's a community site, you're expected to notice these things! BMPs are not allowed on the Internet - Bitmaps (BMPs - the default save-format for Microsoft Paint) are straight-up not allowed. I haven't use BMP files in years. DO NOT post files on the Internet that are encoded as uncompressed bitmaps (BMP). If you can save as a BMP, you can save as a PNG in Microsoft Paint (Windows XP and higher) as well. On the drop-down box that says "24-bit Bitmap (*.bmp;*.dib)", select "PNG (*.png)" instead. GIFs are OK but GIF is not MOTION FRIENDLY! Similarly, I will no longer tolerate GIFs that use ANY KIND of fading transition, 'page' transition, or anything else that's unnecessarily large. GIFs do not understand a relation from one frame to the next, so fading and full motion becomes HUGE as each frame must be rewritten. Do not use these on the Internet at all. According to these rules, which of these statements is correct? AOL is an awesome ISP! Why do you hate BMPs? I know, BMPs suck. AND posting MP3s on blogs, forums, and other public sites could get Falcon4 in a lot of trouble. I like posting BMPs! The interweb is full of BMPs so lay off. And MP3s are meant to be shared, and I need background music for my blog.
